IoT News-Water Risk Report: Data Shows Potential Catastrophic Impact on Earth

Banyan Water, an IoT-based water-saving software leader, announced today that it has saved 4 billion gallons of water for enterprises, and today released its 2021 Water Resources Analysis Trends and Emerging Risks (WATER) report.

Banyan’s report analyzes 2020 data in its asset portfolio and identifies the major enterprise-level water risks that endanger large-scale conservation in historical droughts. The report also pointed out that properties face hidden costs of millions of dollars due to poor water management and rising regional water charges.

“The severe drought that threatens water reserves is not just a problem. We are dealing with a full-blown crisis,” Said Gillan Taddune, CEO of Banyan.

“Companies can no longer put water management in a secondary position. The insights in our report underscore the importance of Banyan’s data-first water management system that can eliminate costly risks for American companies.”

The report explores market data on water and climate in the United States to reveal:

• Water leakage seriously affects enterprise-level risks: Banyan found and prevented more than 505 leaks, preventing more than 5.1 million gallons of water from wasting.

• Regional rainfall is different, posing a challenge: The fluctuation of average daily rainfall makes the supply and demand of water supply unpredictable, complicates property management, and increases the risk of loss.

• Rising regional water rates drive property spending: The Banyan report stated that the annual water bills in many regions of the United States have increased, with a year-on-year increase of 7.6%, and emphasized the sharp increase in water bills in Houston.

• Unpredictable water flow leads to unforeseen costs: The existing buildings and local infrastructure in the United States are not standardized, so it is difficult to predict the water-related costs of the property throughout its life cycle.
