Since its opening in Hong Kong, the Mandarin Oriental Hotel has gained a worldwide reputation for high-end hotels.Has many iconic attributes, such as I have been to bangkok or Shanghai, This hotel chain provides guests with a luxurious and discreet luxury experience. There is no need to book the Mandarin Oriental, Geneva for my next stop in the city.
Affluent and frequent travellers know that Asia is different from luxury hotel groups in other parts of the world. Peninsula, Shangri-La, Mandarin Oriental… They usually propose more noble and exquisite abundance in western country houses, and are usually defined as flagships.

So I came to the Mandarin Oriental, Geneva with high expectations. Its convenient location from the train station is already a positive point, and its beautiful location in Quai Turrettini overlooking Rhone. How about the rest of the hotel? See below.
Luxury business hotel
Let me say bluntly: Mandarin Oriental, Geneva is a business hotel. An upscale business hotel, but unfortunately no more. There, you can expect a high level of service from modern properties, but without any surprise factor or anything extra.

Once you know this, you will still enjoy the beautiful lobby and lounge area-always quiet and peaceful during my stay. Sports enthusiasts have a fitness center with a terrace on the last floor, while gourmets can make reservations at the Peruvian restaurant Yakumanka.

The staff are really qualified for the job, they can turn standard accommodation into great accommodation. I especially remember the receptionist and the concierge, who helped me to make every step of my trip in Geneva smoother.
luxury room
The deluxe room I live in overlooks the backyard. It is very large, approximately. 40 square meters, although my stay is very short, it is very convenient. I admire the quality of the materials used and the carpet floor: perfect for people who like quiet rooms.

The last interior design update was designed by internationally renowned designer Adam D. Tihany in 2008. You will find it a bit dated, especially when you see the bathroom… The furniture and faucets really need to be refurbished carefully to keep up with the five-star standard.
Yakumanka, Peruvian cuisine
There is only one dining option at Mandarin Oriental, Geneva, Yakumanka Restaurant Chef Cesar Bellido. It offers authentic cuisine centered on high-quality seafood in casual restaurants. I recommend booking there during a sunny lunchtime to enjoy the view of the Rhone River.

I just had breakfast there, so I can’t provide any cooking advice on that place. Nonetheless, the food was great and the staff played a role again by providing very good service.
in conclusion
You may be a little disappointed with this review. Yes, compared to my past experience at MO Hotels in Asia, I have higher expectations for Mandarin Oriental, Geneva. Nevertheless, I can understand that Geneva is not the main location for tourism, so this may explain why this hotel is truly business-oriented. Let’s take a look at my visits in Barcelona and Paris!
