The U.S. Court of Appeals on Saturday suspended the administration of President Joe Biden’s vaccine authorization, which aims to promote the Covid-19 vaccine for millions of workers in companies with more than 100 employees.
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit in New Orleans stated that because the petitioner “has reason to believe that the authorization has serious statutory and constitutional issues, the authorization is here to wait for the court to take further action.”

The traditionally conservative court ordered the government to respond to the motion for a permanent injunction by 17:00 on Monday.
The petitioners included five strong Republican states in the United States—Texas, Louisiana, South Carolina, Utah, and Mississippi—as well as some private companies and religious groups.
If persisted, the suspension will be an astonishing setback for Biden in one of Biden’s most far-reaching and influential efforts to ensure widespread vaccination of American workers before the winter when Covid-19 is expected to return.
Sweep the country
The Biden administration did not immediately respond.
But Texas Governor Greg Abbott, a conservative Republican who opposed wearing masks and vaccinations, praised the decision in a post on Twitter.
“The emergency hearing will be held soon,” he said.
“We will spend a day in court to combat Biden’s unconstitutional abuse of power.”
Vaccine authorization has a long history in the United States, but it is usually issued by a city or state.
The question here is whether it is constitutional for the President of the United States to issue such a broad national mandate.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton stated on CNN on Saturday that the president has exceeded his powers, which includes filing a lawsuit to prevent Biden authorized persons .
“The battle is not over, and I will never stop resisting the administrator’s unconstitutional ultra vires!” Paxton tweeted earlier.
As of early November, approximately 58% of the total US population had been vaccinated, up from half of when the mandatory measures were announced in August.
Impressive results
Biden on Thursday set a deadline for comprehensive vaccinations for employees of large companies on January 4-the government said this rule will affect more than two-thirds of the country’s workforce.
“Vaccination is the only best way to get out of this pandemic,” he said.
“Businesses are more capable than ever to accelerate our recovery from this pandemic, save lives and protect our economic recovery.”
The authorizations announced earlier by several major employers have yielded impressive results.
These include United Airlines, which told its 67,000 American employees to accept jabs or face dismissal.
By Thursday, 2,000 people had sought medical or religious exemptions, and all but a few had complied.
Tyson Foods, one of the world’s largest meat packaging companies, announced in August that all of its 120,000 employees need to be vaccinated.
According to the New York Times, about 96% of people have queued.
The U.S. military tells all service personnel that they must be vaccinated—or they will face consequences—reporting that coverage rates for all services are above 95%.
