Lawyer Paul Champ said that he is working with the Canadian Department of Global Affairs to obtain permission from Kurdish officials in northern Iraq to let her leave and determine the appropriate flight.
In a letter to Champ on Thursday, an official from the Canadian Ministry of Justice stated that the Immigration Department had authorized the issuance of travel documents for the woman, who was unable to disclose her name due to the judge’s secrecy order.
The development happened after she asked the Federal Court to force Ottawa to give her an emergency document so that she could go home.
In her court application, the lady said that she did not have an identity document and did not have much cash, and was worried about her safe staying at the Irbil Hotel and her visa expired.
