These systems were delivered as part of a transaction of more than 150 vertical take-off and landing drones worth tens of millions of U.S. dollars (USD).

BlueBird Aero Systems, partly owned (50% by the Israeli Aeronautics Industry Corporation (IAI)), has completed the delivery of 100 WanderB-VTOL drones to European customers. Vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) drones are part of a transaction involving more than 150 WanderB-VTOL and ThunderB-VTOL drones, valued at tens of millions of U.S. dollars (USD). This is the world’s largest number of VTOL drones delivered to any customer at one time, and it was completed within the agreed timetable despite COVID-19 conditions.

The transaction reflects the global emerging trend of vertical take-off and landing drones. It combines the advantages of fixed-wing drones (long range, long endurance, fast speed, resistance to wind, large area coverage, etc.), and is used for land and sea applications. Provides important advantages. It has the advantages of multiple rotors (can take off and land in a confined area, accurate, safe, non-destructive landing, etc.). IAI’s recently approved 50% acquisition of BlueBird Aero Systems by the Israeli government is tapping the potential of this emerging trend. In the past few years, BlueBird has developed a number of advanced VTOL platforms. The combination of assets and capabilities of IAI and BlueBird is expected to produce more ground-breaking operational solutions in the market.
