Elbit Systems Ltd. announced that it has won a contract worth approximately US$106 million to supply SIGMA fully automated self-propelled howitzer systems to a country in the Asia-Pacific region. The contract will be completed within five years.
SIGMA is a 155mm/52 caliber self-propelled howitzer, which can automatically load and lay the artillery system, fast in and out of action time and high rate of fire. It provides a protected cabin for three crew members. According to the mission, SIGMA can automatically select and load the required projectiles, propellants and fuzes, and place artillery to optimally engage the target.
