A recent key webinar on connecting devices and setting up an effective remote patient monitoring solution provided insights on connectivity and security considerations. It also clarifies why medical devices should adopt a connected care platform and how it affects patient experience and engagement.
Israeli company Biological T, It built a connected care platform that transforms medical devices into connected care solutions, sponsored a webinar, and speakers included Itai Weissman, vice president of BioT products, and Dr. Allen Burton, medical director of a medical device manufacturer AbbottNeuromodulation business.
Abbott has developed Neurosphere, a neuromodulation platform for a series of products that can help clinicians and patients manage chronic pain and conditions associated with spinal cord stimulation or dorsal root ganglion treatment. Its myPath app helps track and report on patients’ perceived pain relief and overall health. Neurosphere also enables clinicians to connect to patients’ nerve implants and make changes as needed, while communicating with patients in their own homes.
BioT highlighted the efficient process it can help medical technology companies connect to the cloud and enter the market within a few days, as well as some of the services it provides.
Both Weissman and Burton pointed out that part of the value of connected devices and digital tools is that they improve the quality of care and patient-doctor interaction.
“Until today, patient-reported results rely heavily on validated tools, which usually rely on questionnaires or subjective responses from patients,” Burton said. “As we can move into digital care, there are many rapidly evolving methods to objectively evaluate patient outcomes, including various tools embedded in our smartphones, such as the Apple Health Kit. We really bring the way doctors care for these patients The digital realm.”
Other key gains from the webinar include:
- Patients need to perceive value, not just report their data. Ask the patient the right questions at the right time to create a completely personalized experience.
- Finding and building the required expertise for connected device platforms is a major commitment of the company. Consider cooperating with ready-made no-code interconnected care platforms that are easy to set up using a drag-and-drop modular template method.
- Connecting the system is not the goal; it is the means to achieve the ultimate goal, namely, successful remote patient monitoring and improved treatment results.
- No need to develop cloud network security knowledge, you can play your own core competitiveness
- HIPAA has its own set of challenges, but as the company expands globally, the field of data privacy has become more complex.
