Key points:
The average life span of human beings is short. No one needs to tell that there is not enough time. We are obsessed with lengthy to-do lists, full inboxes, work-life balance, and endless struggles with distractions; we are full of suggestions to increase productivity and efficiency, and “life tips to optimize our lives” “. But usually, these technologies will eventually make things worse.
In this episode, I discussed the concepts in his book with Oliver Burkeman: Four Thousand Weeks: Time Management for Mortals. We discuss We start to think about the unhelpful ways of time and how to think and do things in different ways so that we can perform better in the moment.
My question Oliver Berkman:
- [1:15] Have you studied psychology or just practiced with your readers?
- [1:58] When I was reading this book, I heard a very important point, that is, when it comes to using time, we need to give up the struggle. I was thinking, where is the hacker-but this is obviously the focus of this book, right?
- [7:25] In the book, you mentioned David Allen, Inbox Zero, Pomodoro Techniques-can you talk about these methods and your opinion on how/whether they are effective?
- [11:01] You spent a lot of time really setting a philosophical point in the book—you mentioned farmers and how they used to have no watches. They did not pay attention to time. They did not increase their wages based on the number of hours worked. Now, it’s almost as if what we are going to sell now is just our incremental inventory, right?
- [12:46] From a philosophical point of view, what is time?
- [14:42] Can you talk about things like thieves, like emails?
- [16:28] Chapter 4 is my favorite chapter-can you talk more?
- [20:31] How much do you describe the way we work has affected this growing sense of loneliness and depression in the world?
- [23:19] Is there anything else you would like to invite people to contact you?
