Assistants required for oil, rights and development courses

This Sustainability Undergraduate Program Applications are being accepted for course assistants to support spring course SDEV 4420: Oil, Rights, and Development.

Applicants must be full-time graduate students at Columbia University currently enrolled in a degree-granting program. Students are expected to work an average of 10-20 hours per week prior to the two-day program (although this may vary throughout the semester) and 10 hours per day on 1-2 April 2022.

Only postgraduate applications are accepted.

SDEV 4420 Petroleum, Rights and Development

  • Prep session: Wednesday, March 30, 6-8pm or Thursday, March 31, 4:10-6pm
  • Course dates: Friday, April 1 (9am-5pm) and Saturday, April 2 (9am-5pm)

A graduate student is required to support the preparation and delivery of the two-day intensive simulation course SDEV 4420 Petroleum, Rights and Development. Candidates will work closely with Professor Radon to successfully implement the course on 1-2 April 2022.

Successful candidates will have great attention to detail, the ability to work with minimal supervision, and experience supporting classes. Preference will be given to students who have previously attended the program.

expected task

Under the supervision of the professor, the candidate will help prepare the logistics of the class and assist with its implementation. Tasks will include but are not limited to:

  • Collect CVs/CVs from all student participants (50-90 people)
  • Assign student participants to simulation groups based on student experience
  • Distribute materials to students
  • Answer student inquiries
  • Other tasks required to support course preparation and implementation

Require:

Must be a full-time graduate student:

  • Excellent organizational, communication and leadership skills;
  • great attention to detail;
  • Must be able to manage tasks and time with minimal supervision;
  • Demonstrated interest and knowledge of human rights or humanitarian issues preferred, but not required
  • Preference is given to students who are familiar with the program or have taken the program in the last year
