For pet owners, our animals make life better. They bring love, joy, and happiness into our lives, and certainly make us enjoy them. They also make a mess of stains, grime, dander, and pet hairballs (cue tumbleweeds rolling down the hall). Keeping your house clean can be a challenge when you have pets around, but you can still keep pet dirt and odors at bay with a few simple tips and tricks. After owning pets for 12+ years, I have quite a few strategies for keeping pets in a clean home. Yes it can be done! Here are some great tips on how to keep your pet’s house clean.
How to keep your house clean with pets
Use an air purifier to remove dust and dander.
We’ve found that the best way to keep our house smelling fresh and clean is to use an air purifier. Of course, keeping our air clean and free of dust and dander is also a benefit.we have several Dyson purifier Throughout the house, they contribute a lot to air pollution from pets. What I really like about Dyson purifiers is that they have an automatic mode so you can set it and forget it. They also have filters that last a long time, so you only need to change them 1-2 times a year depending on usage.
Put blankets on furniture and beds.
Some pets are not allowed on furniture, which is fine, but in our house we allow our dogs and cats on furniture and beds. The best way to help remove hair, stains, dirt, and pet odors is to use a blanket. They’re easier to clean than stains on a sofa or duvet, meaning pet odors stay away from furniture. I love ChappyWrap blankets because they are good quality, easy to clean, and have so many beautiful prints and designs. They are my favorite place to throw blankets on furniture and I always keep them on the sofa in the living room.I have got Harbour View Herringbone, old port, Westport Stripes and Oyster Bay.
Invest in a good cordless vacuum.
If you have pets, you may be vacuuming frequently. Make it easier on yourself with a cordless vacuum.I have got Dyson v15 As part of a partnership with them last year, it was a game-changer. With incredible suction and multiple attachments, it can easily vacuum hair from hardwoods, carpets, and furniture without tangling or clogging. vacuum It is also easy to disassemble and clean itself, so the machine lasts longer and performs better.
Use a dog cage.
When you have a puppy, the absolute best way to prevent stains is through crate training. It’s also a great training tool, and both are a great idea (I’ll discuss this in a future blog post). Using a crate is a very good idea for a puppy who is still learning how to toilet outdoors. By using crate training, we were able to train Pepper (seriously) in less than a week.we absolutely love Diggs Revol Box (Medium). Dogs don’t want to go to the toilet in tight spaces, so using a crate will not only keep them out of trouble, but also help with potty training. Use code JESSANNKIRBY for 15% off Diggs you purchased.
Carry an enzyme-based cleaning spray with you.
Accidents can happen. If something happens to your pet, an enzyme-based cleaning spray is your best bet for stain removal. Whether you’re cleaning with muddy paws or after urinating, an enzymatic cleaning spray will do the job of removing stains. This Biokleen Bac-Out Stain + Odor Remover is the best I’ve tried. It can emit very hard stains and odors from pets. Bonus, it works on laundry stains too!
Washable dog bed.
Lightweight, washable dog beds make life so easy.I have got this donut dog bed My dog loves it. It’s really easy to remove the pads and wash everything, and perhaps more importantly, put them back together. For the size, my 75lb dog and puppy fit in the large room.i’m in this large basket bed.
Use a basket for toys.
Baskets are an easy clean-up trick for dog toys and balls.I always this In our living room, so having a dedicated place to throw everything away makes it a lot easier to keep the house tidy.
Get a chom chom wheel.
If you’re on TikTok, you’ve probably seen it rush rush during quarantine. I can assure you that the chom chom virus spreads for a good reason. This lint-roller-style unit is an absolute game-changer, and it’s affordable. Especially for those with cats or especially fluffy dogs (we love your golden retrievers, but the hair), rush rush Rollers are great for removing hair from furniture. It’s also super easy to clean.
Use a robot vacuum.
we got our first robot vacuum cleaner (iRobot Roomba) Black Friday a few years ago. It’s 100% worth it and we’ve bought another one for our house in Vermont. A robot vacuum won’t keep your house tidy, but it can go a long way in cleaning up dog hair and grime every day, and you don’t have to lift your fingers. It really reduces the number of times we have to vacuum during the week and helps keep the house tidy. Robot vacuums work well on hardwood floors and carpets, but they can’t span any large steps or changes in floor height, so they’re best for first-floor spaces.
Leave old towels at the door.
We kept a bunch of old towels and rags by the door so we could wipe the dog’s paws as soon as we walked in. It reduces the way to track dirt inside and get dirty on furniture and carpets.
