The order of using skin care products

Most of you know by now that I really enjoy my skincare routine. For me, it’s a relaxing morning ritual and a way to unwind at night. My skincare routine involves using multiple products and I often get questions about the order in which to use them. All products have different active ingredients and formulations, which are important things to consider when using skin care products. The order in which you use your skincare products is important because it affects their effectiveness and helps bring out the best benefits to your skin.

No need to feel overwhelmed with all these steps. If you’re just dipping your toes into your daily skincare routine and don’t have time or can’t bother, keep it simple. A cleanser, serum, moisturizer/SPF will do. If you are not sure how and when to apply your product, this article is for you.

The order of using skin care products

detergent. (day and night)

Cleansing your skin is the first, and dare I say, one of the most important steps. Especially at night, cleansing the skin is very important to remove the dirt and grime of the day.I rinse in the morning With Farmaesthetics Herbal Cleanser (The smell is so refreshing and makes me excited). I also love that it does a great job of giving you clean skin without flaking or drying. At night, I usually do a double clean.I first wash my face with Farmaesthetics Herbal Cleanser and then use Manuka Honey Cleansing Balm This is great for nourishing the skin barrier and restoring moisture.

Toner or serum. (day and night)

A toner or serum should be applied to the skin after cleansing. You can technically use a toner followed by a serum (which is part of the 10-step Korean skincare routine), but it’s definitely not a necessity. I personally use toner (This one is from Indie Lee been in my skincare routine for years). Toners are generally more used to remove any impurities left on the skin after cleansing, while serums are more used to hydrate your skin and prepare it for the rest of your routine. That said, it really depends on the formulation of the product.reason I love Indie Lee toner Because it balances, refreshes and hydrates. It’s formulated with antioxidants, aloe vera and cucumber for cooling and soothing properties.

Peel off or sheet mask. (at night)

What is a peel or sheet mask I will do it once a week. For the weekly peel, I really like it Dr. Dennis Gross Daily Peel. I save face packs for travel and stuff like that, but one of my favorites is This Vitamin C Mask from Orgaid. If you’re doing a mask, you can rub any remaining product onto your skin (no need to wash it off) before the next step.

treatment or serum. (serum day and night, treatment night only)

The next step after a toner/serum or peel/mask will be a treatment or serum. One thing to note is that if you’re doing a peel, you’re not following a treatment that contains BHA, glycolic acid, lactic acid, or retinol.you can make a peel and then Hydrating Serum with Vitamin C, Hyaluronic acid, Nicotinamide etc. For example:

eye cream. (day and night)

I probably didn’t start using an eye cream until my 30s, but now I’m never without it. There is a lot of debate about whether eye creams are necessary. I think it’s a bit of a personal preference. If you want to skip a step, it’s probably this one, and (as long as there are no potentially harsh ingredients) just dab a moisturizer or serum around the eye area.in the morning i use Brightening and anti-puffiness eye cream. It contains ingredients like bakuchiol, caffeine and vitamin C to brighten, smooth and reduce swelling.I like to eat thicker cream at night This Squalane + Algae Eye Cream.

On-site treatment. (night)

To address blemishes, it’s best to do it at night when your skin is in recovery mode. On-site treatment Continue Clear with 10% Willow Bark Extract, a natural source of BHA salicylic acid.

moisturizer. (day and night)

Your moisturizer is on top of your serum, and if you want to keep it to a minimum, I think it could be an either-or situation, serum or moisturizer.one day i really like Tata Harper Illuminating Moisturizer. It’s infused with diamond powder to brighten the skin and contains hyaluronic acid for plumping and hydration.for something cheaper Youth to the People Superfood Moisturizer really good.

Overnight mask. (night)

Masks are an essential part of my nighttime skincare routine. I use one almost every night in Vermont winters because it’s so dry. My skin absorbed it. You can definitely put a mask on top of your serum/moisturizer and if you have dry skin you can put an oil on top. I do it all the time.my favorite mask is Follain Hydrating Mask and Farmacy Niacinamide Night Mask.

Oil. (day and/or night)

When and how to use the oil will depend on your skin type. You want to use the oil as a last step (or before applying sunscreen during the day) because other products won’t penetrate the oil.I usually only use oil at night, like Biossance Squalane and Vitamin C Oil.

sunscreen. (day)

Sunscreen is important and should be applied every day. It is one of the best skin care products to fight and prevent the signs of aging. My favorite everyday sunscreen is Saie Sunvisor. This is a super moisturizing mineral sunscreen with SPF 35 protection. can also be stacked underneath Saie Slip Tint SPF 35 Tinted moisturizer for extra protection.
