Visura Technology Will commercialize its proprietary TEECAD system in 2022 (already FDA 510K clearance in 2018). This is the first real-time camera system that allows physicians to visualize the position of the probe in the more than 600,000 to 630,000 transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) procedures that occur each year in the United States. The TEE procedure is the gold standard for cardiac imaging. Currently, TEE is performed blindly, which increases the risk of these procedures and equates to a potential complication cost of $102,000 per patient that is not reimbursed.
