Epic beats rivals to rank top IT companies in healthcare in new KLAS report


Electronic health records (EHR) company Epic took the top spot for the 12th year in a row for having the best overall software suite. New report ranks health IT companiesAccording to the KLAS report, the 2022 KLAS Best of 2022 report by KLAS and Boston-based cybersecurity firm Censinet, Epic beat rivals Allscripts, Cerner, CPSI, and Meditech. The Overall Software Award looks at vendors who provide integrated IT systems for clinical and financial services. Epic outperforms the competition in acute care EMR, cardiology, and patient portals.

Meditech came second and Cerner came third.

In addition, Epic once again took first place in the Physician Practice Provider Ranking category, beating out athenahealth and NextGen Healthcare, which took second and third places, respectively.

In total, Epic has won 9 additional Best of KLAS awards for other segments.

In the overall IT services category, Nordic took first place primarily because of its leadership in handling outsourced IT work and implementing its Healthcare IT (HIT) compared to its competitors. Pivot Point Consulting came in second with its strong IT segment outsourcing capabilities. Experis Health and Impact Advisors tied for third place, neither of which did as well in outsourcing some of its IT.

Nordic also received top marks for revenue cycle optimization.

The report named Galen Healthcare Solutions the Best Overall Implementation Services Company, beating Health Data Mover. In addition, Galen is also reported to be among the best in HIT staffing and clinical optimization.

Some groups won for the second year in a row. For example, Chartis Group was named the Best Overall Healthcare Management Consulting Firm for the second time in as many years. Chartis Group also tops two other categories: Financial Improvement Consulting and HIT Consulting Services.

In addition, the report said that Infor’s customer satisfaction with its resource planning software increased 23 percent over last year. The report attributes the improvement to increased communication between companies and customers.

Additionally, the report flagged Greenway Health as the most improved physician practice product of the year. Many clients say executive involvement in problem-solving and speedy resolution is why it has received such high priority this year.
