Seven Bridges is collaborating with the University of São Paulo (USP) and Google Cloud and Associação Genomas Brasil (Brazilian Genome Association) to assist Brazilian genetics (DNABr) project to construct a reference genome that represents the genetic diversity of the Brazilian population. Currently, the human reference genome is largely based on sequencing data obtained from populations of European ancestry, making it challenging to identify and treat disease in Brazilian populations whose genomes are a mixture of Native Americans, Europeans, and sub-Saharan Africans . DNABr will use the Seven Bridges GRAF™ Kit to construct an accurate and representative genome map reference to identify genetic variation in this heterogeneous and mixed population. Google Cloud will provide significant computing and storage resources to process the massive amounts of whole-genome sequencing data required to construct this ancestry-aware reference.
The DNABr project, led by Lygia da Veiga Pereira, PhD, Tábita Hünemeier, PhD, and Alexandre Pereira, Harvard Medical School, Department of Genetics and Evolutionary Biology, Institute of Biological Sciences, University of the South Pacific, plans to use sequencing technology to sequence the genomes of 15,000 Brazilians . Blood samples from multiple longitudinal studies in the country. To date, the first 3,000 genomes have been processed and stored using Google Cloud. “Using standard computational tools, we have discovered a large number of new variants of African and Native American ancestry in the Brazilian genome. We hope to use a graph-based approach to capture the full value of our genome,” Pereira said.

One of my medical resources (MOMS), a platform-as-a-service healthtech startup, has closed a $1.1 million The seed round was led by JumpStart Ventures, with additional investors from Northeast Ohio Private Sector.
It has developed a method to help diagnostic and specialty clinical laboratories connect with the trained staff required to perform, prepare and ship sample collections to designated laboratories to generate patient results.
“MOMS was created to help labs connect with the skilled labor needed to properly collect samples from patients who order from providers who draw blood out of the office or from patients who order kits for testing from labs. In both cases, they All need to find a phlebotomist in their area who is familiar with the lab’s instructions for a successful collection,” said Brad Seibert, femaleFounder and President of MOMS. “We’re connecting facilities that already do laboratory collections and those that can offer mobile blood collection to a variety of laboratories and clients whose projects require collection of blood collections in appropriate business relationships.”
