More than six months after the deadly U.S. Capitol rebellion, authorities began to demolish fences and roadblocks around Washington’s iconic buildings on Friday, although some access restrictions will still exist.
It was seen that workers were dismantling the railings connecting the various parts of the 2.4-meter black metal fence. These railings were erected within a few days of the violent riots in the Democracy Castle in the United States.
Workers at the site said that the demolition of the fence itself will begin early on Saturday, and the demolition is expected to continue until the weekend.
After the attack, thousands of National Guards were stationed there, and the wide security border was equipped with barbed wire, turning the Capitol into a fortress for several months.
The perimeter was demolished in March, but the fence, the Capitol Hill traffic bypass, and the visitor ban angered lawmakers on both sides.

In a letter to lawmakers this week, Senate Sergeant Chief Karen Gibson stated that the U.S. Capitol Police will continue to “monitor intelligence information and related threat environments,” and that temporary fences can be quickly reinstalled if threat conditions permit.
“In addition, although the temporary fence will be demolished, the building access restrictions imposed in response to COVID-19 still exist and will be enforced,” Gibson said.
Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi initiated a security review after the attack to study ways to enhance security around the Capitol.
For several months, security issues have remained an issue. On April 2, a man hit the car on the guardrail of the complex, killing one policeman and injuring another policeman.
The U.S. Capitol Police killed the driver when he jumped out of the car and charged with a knife.
