I’m pleased to announce that marketing guru and media newsroom veteran Amanda Zantal-Wiener has been selected as SEJ’s Editor-in-Chief.
This is a newly created position focused on strategy and leadership, and Amanda will oversee our entire editorial team.
Over the past year, SEJ has experienced significant growth across our team, brand and content offerings.
“In just over a year, our team has grown from 13 to 33 in size and diversity, spread across 5 countries and 6 time zones around the world,” said Janice Uehara HenriksenCEO of Alpha Brand Media, SEJ’s parent company.
“Amanda brings a wealth of experience, content strategy combined with a strong editorial team that empowers and motivates marketers who rely on us to guide and discover what’s going on in their world. We will look to Amanda to help us elevate and support Our writers and editors produce some of the best work of their careers.”
As SEJ’s Editor-in-Chief, I’m incredibly proud of what the team has accomplished so far, including how our Expert Contributor program has grown.
We publish more expert content than ever before – our contributor list has grown to over 130 industry practitioners, recruiting contributors from Oracle, Autotrader, Adobe, Similarweb and more.
Our new contributors work and serve clients and audiences in the UK, Europe and Latin America. SEJ works together to close the gender gap in our publishing business.
“Two-thirds of our leaders are women, including our heads of finance, project management, sales and marketing,” Janice added.
We’ve also launched a new interview series, featuring innovators and experts on trending topics impacting your work, event and career.
In these exclusive interviews from experts Amazon, Trader Interaction, bright edge, pine cones, Botox, transferAnd so on, we’ve got tons of actionable insights from working practitioners and industry leaders to help you learn and grow.
I am delighted to welcome Amanda to the team and to work with her on all these initiatives.
In her most recent role, Amanda served as Senior Associate Editor and Content Manager on HubSpot’s social media team.
There, she oversaw key elements of the brand’s social content strategy, managing multiple cross-functional and cross-departmental projects and initiatives.
Previously, Amanda managed HubSpot’s News and Trends program, where she worked as a reporter, editor, and analyst on the tech industry news most relevant to marketers, sales, and service professionals.
“After working for a sizable CRM company, Search Engine Journal has often been my source of up-to-date information on the industry news and trends that impact B2B professionals the most,” says Amanda.
“SEJ has grown from a traffic perspective, a brand perspective, and most importantly from a team and operations perspective,” said our founder and host Loren Baker SEJ’s Official Podcast.
“We’ve grown from a one-man blog to a leading publication in search marketing, and this growth has brought new opportunities. I’m very excited to add Amanda to our team,” added Loren.
I asked Amanda what she has in store for readers?
“As editor-in-chief, I want to uphold the reader-first creed and uphold SEJ’s already high reporting standards in order to provide the SEO and marketing communities with timely, relevant information — how, where and when they need it,” she said .
Amanda noted that in the modern business and consumer space, the range of topics that fall under this umbrella will continue to expand.
“I’m excited to bring my perspective as a marketer, journalist, editor and manager to an already excellent publishing environment,” she said.
Outside of work, Amanda considers herself a bit of a “Golden Girl” fanatic, but hopefully you don’t hold her against her that way.
On weekends, you can usually find her hiking, trying new recipes, or going out with her dog Tullamore as often as possible.
