Meta expands Reels monetization with monthly challenges


as part of Turn to short videosFacebook’s parent company Meta is introducing more monetary incentives for content creators to make Reels.

By updating its Reels Play Bonus program, Meta is restructuring payouts, expanding monetization opportunities, and giving creators new insights into their audiences.

The changes are aimed at rewarding creators who consistently publish high-quality original content that audiences love, the company said in a blog post.

Challenges add new ways for creators to make money

Part of this update includes the introduction of challenges on Facebook to help Reels Play rewards creators unlock new revenue streams.

This gamified revenue program engages creators in a series of consecutive challenges that reward completion of tasks.

Completing one challenge unlocks the next challenge until the creator earns $4,000 in a given month or the 30-day bonus period ends.

Additionally, Meta will enhance its already established advertising and revenue-sharing programs with in-stream ads.test Overlay ads in Reels on Facebook Rolling out to a wider range of creators.

According to Meta, this will “expand availability to more creators and open up more high-quality inventory for advertisers on our platform.”

This may be in response to TikTok’s announcement of TikTok Pulse, a revenue-sharing program that allows advertisers to place ads next to popular content.

New insights help create more relevant content

To help content creators create short videos that resonate with their audiences, Meta is increasing visibility into performance.

From Facebook’s Reels Play Bonus Insight page, creators will be able to see how many views each Reels is getting and how much they’ve earned over time.

Cross-posting feature will allow syndication of Facebook/Instagram media

Meta also announced that it will add cross-posting to Reels, allowing content creators to seamlessly share videos with followers on Instagram and Facebook.
