My blog is on holiday today… – Bill Mitchell – MMT

Today is a public holiday in Australia to celebrate our outdated views of society – yes, it’s the Queen’s birthday. Our head of state – a legacy of colonial history that we have not yet been able to throw away. The vast majority of Australians would like to live in a republic with a head of state of our own choosing, but it seems we are waiting for the old British lady to leave the stage before we commit to that preference. I don’t usually know about this holiday, but since last Friday I’ve had a bad flu so I’ve decided to take a break from writing until later in the week. However, I have some interesting things going on.

Taxing Summer School – Update

As I mentioned last week, due to the increase in the number of coronavirus infections in the United States and the travel advisories issued by the Australian government, I have cancelled my travel plans to attend this educational event in person.

This means that the two planned meetings will be difficult – the discussion group and the ones I will now be offering remotely are (times are in NY state time):

Thursday, June 16 10:30-12:00 – Buffer Inventory Method

Friday, June 17th 15:15-16:15 – Thirlwall’s Law (this is about balance of payments constrained growth theory).

You will be able to access these sessions via Zoom using the link below

and password 083828

As it happens, the day after I canceled my travel plans, I got the flu and couldn’t travel that far anyway.

Weird coincidence.

Enough for today!
