The King County Ethics Commission is currently seeking to fill two vacancies at the five-person agency. The purpose of the Ethics Committee is to ensure that King County employees and contractors adhere to ethical behavior and to uphold people’s trust in King County as an open and honest government.
In addition to their regular oversight work, board members will have the opportunity to provide input on the county’s code of ethics, which is scheduled to be updated in 2022.
Board members typically work two to four hours a month on board, usually meeting on the third Monday of each month on a working day. Members are appointed to the Ethics Committee for a three-year term, renewable.
The county is seeking to create an ethics committee that reflects King County’s racial, ethnic and geographic diversity and encourages applications from people from all walks of life and cities outside Seattle. The main criteria for candidates are a balance of judgment, integrity and professional training or experience to ensure the ability to deal with complex and sensitive ethical issues.
To be considered for a board position, please email a letter of interest and resume to Program.Ethics@kingcounty.gov.
All application materials must be received by August 17th.
