BINW, SBA and Amazon announce efforts to help local small businesses

SEATTLE — Business Impact Northwest (BINW) and Amazon are joining forces to help small businesses thrive as they recover from the challenges of COVID-19.

Leveraging the SBA, Business Forward’s National Small Business Digital Alliance, and Amazon’s digital business tools, BINW will provide growth-enhancing business resources and educational workshops as part of the Small Business Digital Accelerator Program to help drive equity and inclusion in Washington State increase.

The program will support Washington State small businesses and entrepreneurs interested in becoming online sellers or looking to optimize e-commerce. The program targets 50 small businesses to participate.

“Small businesses need help recovering from the pandemic, and Amazon is happy to provide resources to help them grow,” said Taylor Hoang, head of community engagement at Amazon in Seattle. “We are excited to help Washington entrepreneurs thrive through this partnership.”

“Our mission is to grow businesses that create jobs in underserved communities,” said Joe Sky-Tucker, President and CEO of BINW. “This partnership will help give business owners a better chance of success, and Promote long-term positive economic change in our communities. “

“The SBA is committed to supporting the development and growth of small businesses and entrepreneurs,” said Mike Fong, SBA Administrator for District X. “We are excited to partner with BINW and Amazon and other members of the National Small Business Digital Alliance to help businesses succeed, especially in the wake of the challenges of the pandemic.”

Businesses that have a proven product and are ready to participate will benefit the most from the training.

Weekly live sessions will be held virtually starting August 18.Live virtual meeting recaps will be available every Wednesday starting August 24th from 10am to 11:30am

Businesses participating in all six weeks of virtual training will be eligible to apply for the Holiday Shopping Opportunity Program.

BINW will partner with Amazon to select 5 to 15 businesses to sell at the live pop-up vending event in Puget Sound during the 2022 holiday shopping season. In addition to selling products in person, selected businesses will be promoted through digital channels across Amazon, BINW and other partners to welcome small businesses Saturday.
