Ingredients and Substitutes

- chicken – This Butter Chicken Garlic recipe uses boneless skinless chicken breasts, but you can also make it with boneless chicken thighs.
- sea salt and black pepper – Basic seasoning for chicken.
- dried herbs – Include dried thyme, dried oregano, dried rosemaryand dried parsley. You can also simply replace italian seasoning instead.
- olive oil – Helps butter cook at higher temperatures without developing a burnt taste.
- butter – I almost always prefer unsalted butter so I can control the amount of salt, but any variety on hand will do. If using salted butter, use less salt on the chicken.
- chicken soup – use prepared chicken broth to save time, or substitute Homemade Bone Broth.
- garlic – chop it up for the most mouth-watering chicken garlic butter sauce, or get canned minced garlic To save time. Since garlic is the star of the sauce, I don’t recommend using garlic powder as a substitute.

- Heat well before searing. Make sure the oil is hot enough to sear the outside of the chicken or the chicken will absorb the oil. If the oil splashes when you flick a little water in it, it’s ready for use.
- Soften the butter. Butter at room temperature melts faster and more evenly than solid pieces.
- test temperature. always use meat thermometer. The internal temperature of the chicken should be 165°F.

Variety
- Try different chicken cuts – Try chicken thighs instead of chicken breasts. Alternatively, cut the chicken breasts into strips or bite-sized pieces before cooking (this will reduce cooking time).
- change seasoning – Replace the herb mix in this recipe with an equal amount of your favorite herb seasoning.
- upgrade your broth – Replace the chicken broth (some or all) with dry white wine. Carefully add it to the pan while deglazing.
- add extra garnishes – Try a variety of fresh herbs, Parmesan cheese, lemon juice or red pepper flakes on garlic and butter chicken for extra flavor.
