I’ve finally moved my blog and integrated it into my long-standing homepage. The new blog address is – http://www.billmitchell.org/blog – although the old address will always be valid. However, I strongly recommend that you update your bookmarks to the new address.
The blog is now running on a new Linux distribution with a more secure underlying architecture, allowing me to run the latest packages and database protocols.
Given the way we configure the various virtual machines involved, this transition should be completely transparent to the user.
The next step in the transition is to implement the https protocol and transfer all content from http.
This will further enhance the security of the site. We’ll be doing this over the next few weeks, except the URL will change to https instead of http, and the transition should again be undetectable to users.
If you encounter any interruptions, I would appreciate it and point you to where you found the error.
This is a rather complex operation given the size of the database and the new requirements imposed on us by the new package.
I’m also porting the weekend quiz to MMTed.org and it’s a work in progress. I had to write some code to make this happen, I can’t give a timeline yet (it depends on my workload) but rest assured, in the next few weeks you’ll be able to take quizzes seriously again.
