New website tracks climate provisions of inflation-reduction bill

columbia law school Sabin Center for Climate Change Law and the Environmental Defense Fund today launched a new website to track compliance with climate change regulations by 2022 Inflation Reduction Act. IRAtracker.org website is a free resource that includes a searchable database of the climate-change-related provisions of the Reduce Inflation Act and a tracker that documents actions taken by federal agencies to enforce those provisions.

“The Lower Inflation Act could transform the nation’s energy sector and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, but only if it is fully implemented and government and private entities make good use of its incentives,” the professor said Michael Gerrard, founder and academic director of the Sabin Center for Climate Change Law. “The website will help everyone understand what assistance is available and help track progress (or, we hope, no progress) in implementing its provisions.”

Activities to implement the Law on Reducing Inflation have begun. IRAtracker.org website 72 actions already taken by 11 different federal agencies are shown. More content will follow, and the website will be regularly updated to reflect future IRA implementations.

“The Lower Inflation Act will help help our nation achieve a safer climate and environmental justice, while reducing costs and creating thousands of jobs across the country,” said michael panfill, Senior Director of Climate Risk and Clean Energy at EDF. “We hope that this new website will be a free, publicly available resource that the American public can use to track the many opportunities that the Lower Inflation Act will create. It will also highlight state and local governments, Native American tribes, ways in which community groups and innovative companies can play a leading role in advancing clean energy solutions.”
