Marry Me Chicken Ingredients and Substitutions
This section explains how to choose ingredients for the best Marry Me Chicken recipes, what each ingredient does in the recipe, and substitution options. For measurements, see recipe card below.
- chicken – I used boneless skinless chicken breasts, but you can also use boneless skinless chicken thighs if you prefer. Cooking times may vary slightly.
- seasoning – sea salt, black pepper, italian seasoningand fresh basil. You can also add a pinch of red pepper flakes for some heat.
- olive oil – For frying chicken. Any other neutral cooking oil, such as avocado oil, will do.
- garlic – Use fresh garlic for best flavor, but you can also use 1 tsp canned minced garlic For convenience.
- chicken soup – I used low sodium broth For this recipe, feel free to use your favorite type and brand or vegetable stock. (If your broth isn’t reduced in sodium, you’ll need to reduce the salt.) If you want a stronger flavor, try bone broth.
- heavy cream – makes Marry Me Chicken Dip rich and creamy. If you need a dairy-free option, you can use coconut cream or full-fat canned coconut milk, but the flavor will be a bit different.
- sun dried tomatoes – I made it myself, but you can also buy vibrating ones. Find tomatoes that have been packed in oil, then drained and cut into julienne-like cubes.
- parmesan cheese – I used Parmesan cheese in a shaker jar For convenience, but freshly grated Parmesan will give you a fresher taste.
