My Simple Summer Skincare Routine

Summer is in full swing and Vermont is already very hot and humid. I’m currently sitting in my office sweating and typing because we don’t have air conditioning yet. There’s always a lot going on in the summer, and it seems like most nights I don’t even remember hitting my head on the pillow. The days are long and I usually end up exhausted. The last thing I want is an overcomplicated skincare routine. I keep it simple and low-effort these days.

I now have a few products that I absolutely love, including some favorites like Vitamin C Serum, Incredible Facial Oil, and SPF Serum. This is my simple summer skincare routine.

Simple Summer Skincare Routine

makeup remover

Cleanliness is important in summer, especially since we wear sunscreen, sweat, and spend time outdoors, which means dirt, oil, and other substances can clog our pores. I only use cleanser at night Simply rinse with cool water when you wake up in the morning. I use this cleansing oil:

One Love Organics Plant B Enzyme Cleansing Oil + Makeup Remover

i can’t believe i didn’t try This cleansing oil earlier. It is very gentle and very effective. It also smells amazing and is basically like a spa treatment. It melts away makeup and sunscreen like a dream, and contains fruit enzymes to gently exfoliate and soften skin. You only need one pump and one bottle will last you a while, especially if you only use it at night.

Serum/Retinol

I like to use a vitamin C serum (which pairs well with sunscreen) in the morning and a gentle retinol at night.

Ursa Major Glow Gold Serum

my aunt has this serum When I asked her about it in her bathroom when I was back in Rhode Island a few months ago, she said it was one of her favorite skin care products. I also love other Ursa Major products like their deodorant and shampoo. It’s a Women-Owned Beauty Brand Based in Vermont This serum is rich in moisture and adds a gorgeous glow and zero greasiness.

Marie Veronique Multi-Retinol Night Lotion

I’ve been shocked through the product. I got it in early spring and am still using the first tube. It is a creamy over-the-counter retinoid product that contains three different retinoid active ingredients. It’s gentle yet very effective. It did bring something back when I first started using it, but it only lasted about a week.

I’ve tried other retinol alternatives, but none have been as effective as this one. I have dry and somewhat sensitive skin and have not had any redness, irritation or dryness with this retinol. It’s on the pricier side, but I’m still using the first tube I bought in March.

eye cream

Healthy Eye Cream

Honestly, I have tried so many eye creams but I just keep coming back Fran’s eye cream. It’s just a simple, effective product with a nice texture (like a cream gel) and I did notice a difference in my under eye area. It feels cool, calming and great for reducing swelling. I use it morning and night. It’s also cheaper than almost every other eye cream I’ve tested!

Moisturizer/Oil

Vermont is pretty humid (at least lately), so I don’t find myself needing moisturizer in the morning or evening. If your climate is very dry, I suggest you Alpyn Beauty PlentGenus Moisturizer In winter I apply it before face oil. These days I use retinol, skip the moisturizer, and use This Vitamin C Facial Oil night. In the morning I use a vitamin C serum followed by SPF.

Bloomeffects Royal Tulip Vitamin C Facial Oil

If you’ve read my newsletter or read it on the weekends, you’ve probably heard me talk about this facial oil. I recommend it to everyone and anyone who will listen. Without a doubt, this is the best face oil I have ever used. It doesn’t leave the skin feeling greasy or heavy. It is light and absorbs quickly. It leaves my skin feeling incredible. I’m on my second bottle and I can’t imagine my skincare routine without it. In winter I use a moisturizer underneath.

SPF/sun protection

Sunscreen should be worn year-round, but it’s especially important in the summer. Wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher every day, even if you don’t get direct sunlight.

Eleven Unparalleled Sunscreen Essence SPF 40

if you are looking for Ultralight and long-lasting SPF i highly recommend Eleven Yang Serum. It has a very thin consistency, spreads very easily and feels very lightweight. It doesn’t feel sticky, and even better, it won’t runny or sting your eyes if you sweat. I wear it to the lake, play tennis and ride my bike and it holds up really well. You can also easily wear it under makeup.

insecticide

One thing that is very different in Vermont is bugs, especially mosquitoes. On hot sticky nights, buggies can be quite numerous, so bug spray is an absolute must.I don’t know if insect repellant counts as skin care, but being itchy and red after a mosquito bite is no fun, so I bring Kinfield Golden Hour DEET Free Insect Repellent It’s everywhere (the only place I can find it in stock is Anthro). Best of all, it works and tastes great too.my friend said she swore And itching cream.
