Dairy Free Chai Popsicles – Lexi’s Clean Kitchen


These 4 Ingredient Chai Popsicles One of my favorite summer treats!They’re easy to make and full of sweet spice flavor. These popsicles are refined, sugar-free, dairy-free, paleo, and utterly delicious.

Easy and Healthy Homemade Popsicles

Summer means popsicle season is here. If you’re a chai fan like me, these 4-ingredient chai popsicles are the sweet treat for you.

Creamy and delicious, these healthy popsicles are the perfect way to cool down on a hot summer day.

Because what’s better than a creamy popsicle that’s packed with flavor and without the added refined sugar of store-bought popsicles?

What are the ingredients in popsicles?

  • milk: I use almond milk, but feel free to use whatever milk you have on hand.
  • Honey: My natural sweetener of choice.
  • Vanilla extract: Adds warmth and depth of flavor.
  • Chai Spice: A perfect blend of cardamom, allspice, cinnamon, cloves and ginger.

How to Make Popsicles

  • While you do have to wait for healthy popsicles to freeze, this recipe is actually pretty quick to prepare! mix: In a blender, combine almond milk, honey, vanilla, and 1 tablespoon chai spice. Blend until smooth, then taste and adjust spice/sweetness as needed.
  • Portion and freeze: Pour the mixture into popsicle molds and add popsicle stickand freeze for at least 5 hours.

What is Chai Flavor?

Chai Spice is a delicious blend of sweet and warming spices. Ingredients and amounts may vary slightly, but here’s what I used in this recipe:

  • cardamom
  • Allspice
  • Cinnamon
  • clove
  • ginger

notes: For this recipe, you will be making slightly more chai spice than you will end up needing. However, you can store the rest and use it in any other chai recipe. Assuming the spice you start with is fresh, it can keep in your cupboard for up to a year.

How to make popsicles without ice crystals?

Luckily, the key to avoiding ice crystals in your popsicles is using a creamy base, which is exactly what we’ve done with almond milk in these popsicles.

Also, I recommend storing popsicles in the back of the freezer. The location in the refrigerator near the door is more unstable in temperature when the refrigerator is opened and closed. This temperature change can lead to the formation of ice crystals.

Tips and Notes

  • Allow plenty of time to freeze. I recommend at least 5 hours or overnight to give the popsicles time to freeze completely.
  • popsicles will naturally separate when they freeze. This is normal! All it does is give them a beautiful presentation and a full flavor experience with every sip.
  • If you don’t have popsicle molds, You can use paper cups.However, I do recommend a popsicle mold If you can get one. They are worth it!

Variety

  • Make Dirty Chai Popsicles. Love adding espresso to your milk tea? Try adding some espresso to your blender for extra flavor and a boost of caffeine.
  • Use another type of milk. I like to use almond milk in this recipe, but feel free to use any milk you have on hand.
  • Make them vegan. These popsicles are already non-dairy thanks to the almond milk, but if you want to make these sugar-free popsicles completely vegan, just swap out the honey for maple syrup.

How to Easily Remove Popsicles from Molds

You can use a few tricks to get the popsicles out of the molds, but the easier method I’ve tried so far is to stick the popsicle molds in a large bowl of hot water. Place the entire mold in the water, but make sure that no water gets inside the popsicle. Leave it there for about 30 seconds, then remove. Then all popsicles pop easily! If you have individual molds, then you can place each popsicle in a large cup of hot water.

Or, if you can’t get the mold into the bowl, you can also run the mold under hot water from the tap.

how to store

Unlike the popsicles you buy at the store, we’ve found that these popsicles are best consumed within 1 to 2 weeks. The fresher the better.

With proper storage and temperature control, these homemade popsicles will keep in the freezer for up to 3 months.

Keep in mind that the longer they are stored, the higher the risk of ice crystals forming.

Which Popsicle Molds Are Best?

There are so many fun popsicle molds on the market right now! You can buy silicone, stainless steel or plastic!

We actually have one of each, but always go back to this classic plastic version because it holds up well and we love the popsicle shape it makes. Just be sure to hand wash in warm soapy water, not hot water or in the dishwasher. Here are some other favorite popsicle molds we love:

  • Chai Spice Blend: This recipe uses 1 tbsp
  • 1/2 teaspoon cardamom
  • 1/2 teaspoon all spices
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
