Art is for everyone and has the power to bring people together. Ortigas Malls would like to highlight that the 6th Ortigas Arts Festival will be held at Estancia East Wing, Pasig City from July 12th to August 13th, 2023.
The overall theme of the Ortigas Festival is “Art for All: An Exhibition of Passion and Craft Without Borders,” a free event where visitors can view and experience different forms of art and attend educational workshops. It aims to highlight the talents of artists who want to showcase their creations to a wider audience and ignite a passion and appreciation for art without being limited by a limited space.
“One of Ortigas Mall’s goals is to bring Filipino arts and crafts to the forefront and bring them closer to Filipinos through our annual art exhibition in Estancia. This year’s Art in Ortigas The festival is so unique that we have invited talented artists from Rizal, Pangasinian, Bulacan and Davao to share their talents, knowledge and masterpieces during the month-long event.” Vice President of Ortigas Mall President Architect Renee Bacani said.
“I’m really thankful that Ortigas Malls has provided this opportunity for six years. It’s an important platform to really reach out to the wider market,” said Renato “Mang Ato” Habulan, chief curator of Agos Studio and Linangan Residency. He added that the Ortigas Arts Festival is a great way to educate people about various art forms and empower people to build community through artistic expression.
Wide Range of Art Appreciation
One of the highlights of this year’s Ortigas Arts Festival is artwork from Mr. Habrand’s Art Caravan, a traveling exhibit that brings art to various communities. The project encourages collaboration between artists, providing them with a creative space to paint and sculpt outside of the room. These works are exhibited at Agos Studio and Linangan Art Residency exhibitions.
Seasoned and up-and-coming Filipino artists from Davao, led by Ms. Rita Bustamante, also shared work during the month-long exhibition.
For photography, the Ortigas Foundation presents vintage photographs of the southern Philippines and the Cordillera from 1900 to 1920. The Red Lab Gallery exhibits fine print photographs.
The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) is hosting a free nightly screening of critically acclaimed Filipino films directed by Regina Cadena (sonata), Paul Villaluna (go home) and Zig Dulay (rejoice).
Aspiring filmmakers can also enter the third Ortigas Vertical Film Contest, themed “The Pursuit of Happiness,” for a chance to win exciting prizes.
For dance and music, Step by Step Performing Arts Studio, Bughaw Folkloric and Sindaw Philippine Performing Arts Association plan to perform during the Ortigas Festival.
For fashion, Empire PH will host Miss Universe Ethnic Costumes and Kaayo Modern Mindanao will host fashion and bridal gowns.

Sharing knowledge and love of art
In the spirit of making arts and crafts more accessible, the Ortigas Arts Festival is hosting a series of talks and workshops.
Visitors can sign up for OdangPutik’s pottery experience and collaborate with Agos Studio to create intricate lace pieces with Luntian Kagubatan. The Bonsai Association of the Philippines and the Ikenobo Ikebana Association of Manila will also hold consecutive seminars.
Mr. John Silva, Executive Director of the Ortigas Foundation, will deliver a speech on the Cordillera Mountains exhibition, and Dr. Laia Beauquilen Gonzalez, a professor at Asia Pacific University, will deliver a presentation entitled “Writing About Art and Artist’ speech. Another UA&P professor will read Dante Alighieri’s “Inferno” poem.
“Over the past six years, we’ve worked with a lot of people—those who come to learn and those who come to teach,” said Helen Mirasol, an Ortigas Festival advisor. “The comment board becomes an integral part of every festival, encouraging viewers to take a more critical view of the artwork,” added Mirasol.
Through the Ortigas Arts Festival, Estancia Mall continues to advocate for bringing the arts closer to more Filipinos and giving them respite from the challenges of everyday life. The festival also provides an opportunity for Filipinos to learn more about the arts and discover its artistic side.
“We have to teach art to a wider audience because it can inspire people. I hope we can connect not only with young artists, but with ordinary people who have the potential to do more art,” Mr. Habrand said.
Art truly has the ability to connect us all. Let’s enjoy the 2023 Ortigas Festival together.
The 2023 Ortigas Festival will be held at the Estancia East Wing in Pasig City from July 12th to August 13th, 2023.
