An 80-year-old Nebraska pensioner shot and killed her 50-year-old husband while asleep and was sentenced to up to 10 years in prison.
After being convicted of murdering her husband in August last year, Lavetta Langdon was sentenced in Hongliu County Court on July 12.

Defense lawyer Brian Davis said that Lavita was a “victim” and shared his client’s experience of abuse, including a case in which she was forced to eat dog food in front of her four daughters.
Davis added: “We don’t know if she will be acquitted in self-defense. Mrs. Langdon and Mr. Langdon are both victims.”
KNOP also reported that Lavetta told the court that she called the police several times over the years, but they did not respond. The two married in 1960.
The court also heard that Lavita had divorced Langdon and moved to Georgia. According to reports, she subsequently remarried him.
Eugene Langdon, the brother of the murder victim, publicly opposed his siblings, adding that he had a split personality.
According to media reports, Eugene said: “I know what my brother is like. He is not a good person. He has a dual personality. He has an open personality. He will make people believe that he is tall, strong and great.

Possible parole in four years
Despite the request, Judge Urbom sentenced Lavetta to 8 to 10 years in prison, with possible parole after four years.
KNOP reported that he said: “I must consider what is fair to you, protect the public and reform you. I must consider many factors: age, criminal history, education, etc.
“Involuntary manslaughter can be up to 20 years. There is no doubt that you, Lavetta, have battery woman syndrome. There is no doubt that you live in hell, but my review of reports and security cameras believes that murder is not reasonable.”
He added: “Your lawyer argues about domestic violence. In the final analysis, you killed a cold-blooded person. I can’t get you to probate your sentence. No one should be murdered. Any sentence I will impose will not be behaved.”
