The thing about baking pasta, though, is that you usually need to pre-cook the pasta…well, not anymore!

This no-cook pasta bake starts with born Combine the pasta with sauce and spices in a baking dish and bake until cooked through, then add your favorite meats, vegetables and cheeses.

Required raw materials

  • pasta: Penne type pasta works best for this recipe! I use the gluten-free Jovial brand, but feel free to use your favorite. If you don’t have macaroni, take a look below!
  • Italian Tomato Sauce: Whatever store-bought sauce you prefer. I love the classic tomato sauce, but roasted garlic, tomato basil or arrabbiata would also be great!
  • broth: Chicken or vegetable soup are both good choices. Use whichever one you have on hand.
  • Cashew cream, half-and-half or coconut milk: I like to use my homemade cashew creambut you can also use coconut milk or half-coconut milk to add a rich, creamy flavor to the sauce.
  • spices: A simple mixture of garlic granules or powder, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes adds lots of flavor to baked pasta.
  • Optional plug-ins: Customize your baked ziti with a piece of cheese, cooked, sliced ​​sausage, and chopped meatballand/or sauteed spinach. I personally like to make mini meatballs to add to that!
  • Mozzarella cheese: Use as a topping for pasta baking.

Variety

  • Choose your protein. Fill your baked pasta with cooked sliced ​​sausage, chopped meatballs, cooked ground beef, Italian sausage, or mini meatballs (my preference). Or, keep your baked ziti vegetarian by using meatless ground beef, or skip the meat altogether!
  • Add vegetables. In addition to spinach, you can choose other cooked vegetables to round out your meals. Try diced bell peppers, onions, chopped zucchini, mushrooms, you name it.
  • Try other cheeses. You can't go wrong with the combination of ricotta cheese and mozzarella cheese, but other cheeses will work well too. Try freshly shaved Parmesan, Havarti, Montreal Jack or Gruyère!

How to Make No-Cook Pasta Bake

This gluten-free baked pasta recipe takes just minutes to prep and pop in the oven.

  1. Prep and bake: In a 9×13-inch baking dish, combine pasta, sauce, stock, cream of choice, and spices. Mix until combined, then cover baking sheet tightly with foil and bake at 400°F for 40 minutes. After 40 minutes, open the baking sheet and test the pasta for doneness. If necessary, extend the time until the pasta is al dente.
  2. customized: Once the pasta is fully cooked, stir in your optional add-ins—spoon the ricotta on top, stir in sausage or meatballs, stir in spinach, etc. After mixing the add-ins into the pasta, sprinkle the mozzarella cheese on top.
  3. Finish and serve: Return the baked pasta to the oven and bake, uncovered, until the cheese is bubbly and the top is golden brown. For faster melting, you can bake for 60-90 seconds. If you grill it, be sure to watch it carefully to avoid burning it! Once the cheese is melted, remove from the oven, let cool for a few minutes, then dig in.

Actually it is! With the right ingredients and proportions, you can bake uncooked pasta and it will be cooked through – no boiling required!

The tight seal traps steam inside, cooking the pasta to perfection. Leaving the pot uncovered will allow all the steam to escape and you will end up with crispy noodles.

It doesn't matter! You can use other small shapes of pasta like farfalle, rotini, penne, fusilli, etc. Keep in mind that different shapes of pasta will cook at different speeds, so check early and add time as needed!

Tips and Notes

How to store

Leftover pasta bake can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. To reheat, simply place it back in the oven or microwave until heated through.

  • Once the pasta is fully cooked, add optional add-ins: spoon a dollop of ricotta, protein (sausage or meatballs), spinach or cooked vegetables (if adding), and top with mozzarella cheese.

  • Bake for another 10 minutes until the cheese is bubbly, melted and golden! Alternatively, you can grill it for 60-90 seconds (watch carefully) to let the cheese melt!

  • Serve and enjoy.
