Adkins has been vaccinated twice and tested positive before the game. This is the third game of the Adick team’s preseason game.
He has officially missed the game and assistant coach Johnny Jackson is responsible in his absence.
Charlton issued a statement at lunchtime on Saturday, saying: “In accordance with the government and EFL COVID-19 guidelines, and after necessary risk assessments have been conducted, several staff and players will not be present for Saturday’s game against Dartford. Pre-season friendly.
“The club can confirm that although manager Nigel Adkins was vaccinated with a double vaccine, he recently tested positive for the coronavirus and is in isolation at home. Assistant manager Johnny Jackson will be responsible for the team’s game in Princes Park.”
Charlton has not yet stated when Adkins will return to work, and the club’s next friendly will be against the British crown team Reading next weekend.
