An official in Jakarta said that an Indonesian man infected with the new crown virus disguised himself as his wife in order to board a domestic flight.
Halim Perdanakusuma Airport General Manager Nandang Sukarna said that the man was allowed to fly from Jakarta to Ternate on the northern Maluku island on Sunday using his wife’s ID card and a negative Covid test certificate.
The man only used the initials of DW to indicate his identity and boarded the plane wearing a full face veil.
He said that a flight attendant saw the man changing his clothes before leaving the plane and notified the airport authorities.
“His purpose is just to use someone else’s negative PCR test so that he can fly,” Nan Dang said, referring to the polymerase chain reaction test against the virus.
According to local media reports, the man was detained after the plane landed and was immediately tested. After the test was positive, he was ordered to self-quarantine at home.
The police said that once his isolation period ends, they will immediately prosecute him.
