Industry body UK Hospitality warned that the industry has no choice but to “be tied behind one’s back”.
Kate Nicholls, chief executive of the UK hospitality industry, said that the industry she represents will “face consequences” after being excluded from the list.
She said: “We are now facing a summer season when venues are closed and services are reduced, and at this time we should be at a seasonal peak. The department will do its best to provide quality services, but it will tie a hand behind us.
“Those who are fully vaccinated should be able to test after the ping, and if the result is negative, they can continue their lives. For those who are not fully vaccinated, two negative tests should be enough to return to work.”
Previously, the government designated key staff members who would be exempt from self-isolation if they were tracked by their NHS tracking and tracing app.
It only applies to workers who are fully vaccinated.
