A poem to celebrate my husband’s 10th anniversary since his transplant

You are only thirty-four years old, so strong and healthy,
However, heart failure came, a cruel and sudden blow.
No warning, no sign, just life turning gray,
When you are fighting to survive day in and day out.

You were there for most of my pregnancy,
There are machines everywhere on the hospital bed.
We wonder, we cry, will you hold his hand?
Would you like to look at our son and watch him stand up?

But hope never fades, though fear approaches,
With every heartbeat, we cheered.
That night, a heart was given to you,
We have to keep you, my prayers came true.

Ten years have passed and your heartbeat is still strong,
Thanks to kindness, you belong to you.
From almost despair to embracing life,
Much loved by your son and wife.

We thank those who have devoted their efforts for you,
The loss of a family is unparalleled.
They received the gift of life through pain and tears,
Gave us these precious years.

Happy day to my best friend,
I'm glad our love story isn't over yet.
I hope all your wishes and dreams come true
From now on, life will be kind to you.

My love with our beautiful boy xxxxx
