The 2022 Acura NSX Type S will elevate the performance and power of this highly regarded supercar to the next level. Today, the company released a teaser video and car pictures before its debut during Monterey Car Week on August 12.

The car will become the highest performance road-grade NSX ever. Compared with the current NSX, it will provide more power, faster acceleration and sharper handling.

Acura said that the model will uphold the brand’s “firm commitment to precision craftsmanship”. The brand’s vision extends from the redesigned Acura TLX and the new TLX Type S to the food chain, and then to the new MDX and MDX Type S.

The 2022 NSX Type S will be equipped with the company’s twin-turbocharged V6 hybrid engine and an enhanced version of the standard all-wheel drive.

Although it has not yet been fully disclosed, Acura has positioned the NSX Type S as a classic model of the future and said it may be as collectible as the 1999 NSX Zanardi. Collectible versions of the car are available in the Japanese domestic market, including NSX-R (1992-1995) and NSX Type S-Zero (1997-2001).

The 2022 model year will mark the first time the NSX Type S will be sold outside of Japan. The next iteration of the car will be limited to 350 vehicles worldwide (300 vehicles are exclusively for US customers). Each will be produced at the company’s performance manufacturing center in Ohio.

After the NSX Type S is put into production, Acura will stop the production of NSX. However, the company did not end its relationship with the sports car.

According to the company’s vice president and Acura brand officer Jon Ikeda, Honda’s high-end division plans to “pursue sports cars in the electrified age.”
