Adrian Grenier returns to TV for the first time in a decade in a new limited series on Netflix.
The 45-year-old actor last appeared on TV in 2011 in “Entourage,” will appear in Netflix’s upcoming eight-episode thriller “Clickbait”. Official trailer In the series earlier this month, Nick Brewer, played by Gernier, had bruises on his face and seemed to go against his will. He held up a sign that read: “I abuse women. At 500 I will die when I watch it ten thousand times.”
according to Entertainment WeeklyIn 2011, after eight seasons when he played Vincent Chase in The Entourage, his appearance on the show was his first regular role in the series. When explaining the interruption of his small screen, Grenier said that he was very picky in terms of projects.
“I focus on projects, not necessarily quantity, but quality,” the “Devil Wearing Prada” actor told EW. “I’m always looking for projects that have a profound impact on people.”
Grenier shared that he was very interested when he heard the premise of “Clickbait”. The series will explore “how our most dangerous and uncontrolled impulses are stimulated in the age of social media, revealing the ever-widening rift we have found between virtual and real characters,” according to the media.
“This is a very strange series,” he explained. “At first glance, it only appears on the surface. This is a thriller; this is someone who doesn’t know. But in fact, its depth is to explore the issue of identity, especially in the technological world. The exploration is about being a person alive. What it feels like is really interesting. The Internet age, avatars, catfish, all of this.”
After reading the first few scripts, Genier said that he was persuaded to take up the role. He admitted that he said “yes” even before understanding how the series ended.
“So during the shooting, I don’t even know who did it,” he said with a smile. “I thought, did I do it? Am I that person? I think I am that person. But remember, in thrillers, twists and turns are not always what you expect. Blink, blink!”
In the show, Nick is the husband, father and brother. Gernier made it clear that his first task is to show Nick’s life, not just as a suspect of a bad guy, and let the audience understand his “scope as a person.” He said that he also wanted to establish his character as a “good father and good man”.
Grenier did not resolve the theories about Nick’s innocence or guilt. Instead, he encourages viewers to consider every possibility, including how everyone can share fake news and forward it without thinking about the problem and lead to the confusion of misinformation.
“This keeps us from knowing [the truth] The truth, who doesn’t know what is what, because all conflicting information-most of which is untrue information-has been released. This is related to media literacy and hygiene in many ways. This is good,” he said.
“Clickbait” starring Zoe Kazan, Betty Gabriel and Phoenix Rey will be available on Netflix starting Wednesday.
