A California elementary school parent allegedly assaulted a teacher after arguing with the school principal about the state-wide regulations on wearing masks.

In her letter, Gibson described the incident as beginning with a parent “verbally attacking” the principal. The incident escalated when an unnamed teacher stepped in to “protect” the principal.
Gibson did not specify the school where the incident occurred, but said the incident occurred after the first day of school on Wednesday. Gibson said in a letter on Thursday that attacks on teachers and other school district staff “will never be tolerated,” adding that “such incidents will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
“Remember, we are not the ones who make rules/tasks. If we want our doors and students to stay open five days a week, we are the ones who must follow/enforce these rules,” she said in the letter.
The principal admitted that during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, students were “emotionally high” when they returned to school and encouraged members of the school community to familiarize themselves with local and state requirements, which she said “changed forever.”
Gibson wrote: “I implore us to do our best to put all our feelings aside and see what is best for the students.”
