Anthropic announces Claude 3, setting new industry benchmarks in reasoning, mathematics, coding, multi-language understanding and vision
Anthropic’s next-generation AI models Claude 3 Opus, Sonnet and Haiku are Available now And it seems to surpass the performance of OpenAI's ChatGPT 4.
Opus and Sonnet are accessible through their APIs, allowing developers to start using these models immediately. Sonnet powers the company’s free experience, Opus is available to Claude Pro subscribers.
Opus is Anthropic's smartest model, with near-human understanding capabilities according to the company.

Anthropic reports that Haiku is the fastest and most cost-effective model on the market in its smart category. For the vast majority of workloads, Sonnet is 2x faster than Claude 2 and Claude 2.1, while Opus is about the same speed as past models.
The company, founded by former OpenAI research executives, has received funding from the likes of Google, Salesforce, and Amazon, and has completed five different financing deals totaling approximately $7.3 billion in the past year.
Claude 3 can summarize about 150,000 words, while ChatGPT can only summarize about 3,000 words. For the first time, Cloud became multi-modal, allowing users to upload images or documents instead of just standard text prompts. However, it cannot yet produce images or video.
