Mustafa Suleyman succeeds Microsoft’sgetSuleyman, one of the founders of Inflection AI, co-founded the company after leaving Google with DeepMind, an artificial intelligence company previously acquired by Google.
After news of Inflection's move to Microsoft broke, Suleyman gave a TED talk in April, sharing his views on artificial intelligence and its long-term development. yes charming.
First, I needed to observe his incredible talent for making a topic as complex and even scary as artificial intelligence accessible to a mainstream audience, while also possessing the technical skills to truly build the future.
Suleiman's positioning of artificial intelligence challenges us to go beyond the boundaries of what we have known throughout our careers. Instead, he presents artificial intelligence as becoming and unlocking something entirely new. He likened it to a new digital species, a personal being that exists to help each of us expand our abilities and horizons, thinking of artificial intelligence as a cognitive exoskeleton to help us achieve exponential growth, Achieve impossible or even impossible results.
“Artificial intelligence is to the brain what nuclear fusion is to energy,” he said. “Infinite. Rich. Changing the world.
I think that’s the key to why this moment is so monumental. We are not prepared for how to deal with the sudden disruption of artificial intelligence, such as other scenarios and experiences we have been trained to handle.
So be it.
Now is our time to stand up, embrace change, and be part of a new breed of leaders willing to see the world anew and humbly embrace curiosity, imagination, and courage. This is how we shoot.
“Artificial intelligence is really different,” Suleiman explains. “That means we have to think creatively and honestly about this problem. We have to push analogies and metaphors to their limits to be able to deal with what's coming.
We don't know what we don't know. For some people, it's about finding and surrendering to their boundaries. For others, it’s a gateway into the unknown. On the other side of curiosity, bravery, and hope, there are discoveries, experiences, and ultimately innovations,
“This is not just another invention,” Suleiman exclaimed. “Artificial intelligence is itself an infinite inventor.”
While there were many nuggets of wisdom packed into his 20-minute speech, it was his ending that truly resonated personally.
“Artificial intelligence is us. It's all of us. When we build artificial intelligence, we can and must reflect all that is good about humanity, all that we love, all that is special…our empathy, our kindness , our curiosity, our creativity. I think this is the greatest challenge of the 21st century, but also the most wonderful, inspiring, and hopeful opportunity for all of us.
It's time to grow up.
Today is World Creativity and Innovation Day. This reminds us of the importance of human creativity, especially in the age of artificial intelligence. Creativity is the basis of innovation.https://t.co/bOilgWKMz5#WCID https://t.co/QqmHFykc3b
