Alexander Ocasio-Cortez blasts Democrats for moratorium on deportations

The moratorium on evictions imposed to protect tenants from losing their homes expired on Saturday. DN.Y. Representative Alexander Ocasio-Cortez believes that the Democrats can only blame themselves.

on Sunday, Ocasio-Cortez appears In CNN’s “State of the Union Address,” she expressed her frustration after the time allowed by the Democrats to allow the suspension was exhausted and could not be extended.

“The House of Representatives and the leadership of the House of Representatives have the opportunity to vote to extend the moratorium. Frankly speaking, a small number of conservative Democrats in the House of Representatives threatened to board the plane instead of holding this vote.” she says.

“We really have to be blunt. When the Democrats in the House of Representatives have a majority, we can’t honestly blame the Republicans.”

In the next few weeks, approximately 11 million Americans will be at risk of losing their homes after maturity.Ocasio-Cortez also called on the Biden administration to wait until the last minute before asking Congress Extension of the moratorium on expulsion.

She said: “A month ago, this court order was issued at the White House, and the White House waited until the day before the House of Representatives adjourned to issue a statement requesting Congress to extend the moratorium.”

“The House of Representatives is in an unnecessary dilemma. It’s not just me saying that. Financial Services Chairman Maxine Waters also made it clear.”

Saturday, Ocasio-Cortez Organizing a sit-in protest at the Capitol has expired. “We are here to extend the moratorium, so what about Congress? It’s time to come back to #ExtendTheMoratorium,” She tweeted then.

The Biden administration has since called on state officials to allocate funds to help those in need, but Ocasio-Cortez believes this is not enough.

“Those state governments need to unite, but when our transaction is not completed, we can’t drive people out of the house. Of the $46 billion allocated, only $3 billion is used to help renters and small landlords,” Okasi O-Cortez said.

Ocasio-Cortez hopes that Congress will reconvene and vote to extend the moratorium.
