Amazon is offering a bonus of US$1,380 (£1,000) to new employees in the UK to attract new employees amid a labor shortage in the country.
As employees and transportation interruptions lead to supply chain crises, more and more companies are struggling to retain employees and receive bonuses. The inventory levels of major retailers are at their lowest levels since 1983.
“We can see that this situation lasts longer than people expected. The skills shortage may last for several years. The impact of Brexit on our ability to attract workers from the EU will not disappear anytime soon, and when people are not working And during vacations, the pandemic severely disrupted the training process,” said Andrew Suntans, a former member of the Bank of England’s Monetary Policy Committee.
The reward will be provided until September 18, and the new employee will immediately receive a signing bonus.
According to the recruitment website Indeed, the e-commerce giant also stated that workers are “urgently needed”.
Amazon said that this is the recruitment “start immediately, no experience”, workers’ wages will exceed 15 US dollars per hour, overtime pay will exceed 30 US dollars per hour.
