Country singer Ashley Monroe revealed on Instagram on Tuesday that she was diagnosed with Fahrenheit’s macroglobulinemia, a rare blood cancer, and she will receive chemotherapy this week.
The 34-year-old singer wrote in the caption: “Thank you. I am grateful for moments like this. I receive flowers from @genajohnson507 every week. When we have to cancel our trip to Florida, enjoy our stay in Nashville. “
“I was sitting with my sisters the day I found out,” she recalled. “See John [Danks] Become my rock and Dalton’s best father, and be surrounded (and pray for) the best friends (and family and managers) I dream of. “
Monroe shared a series of photos in which the singer can be seen holding flowers from producer Gina Johnson. In the following photos, the singer can be seen spending quality time with her 4-year-old son Dalton William, husband John Danks and other people close to her.
According to the singer, her doctor noticed her “anemia” during a routine laboratory examination a few months ago. “I thought, okay, I would double the cheeseburger patties, take some extra vitamins and call it a day,” she shared.
The “Hands on You” star then explained how the doctor came to the diagnosis. “Well, my red blood cell count has been declining, and they found that my iron/b12/folate level is actually good. To make a long story short, they did a bone marrow biopsy, (oops), look… a rare blood is called’waldenstrom Macroglobulinemia’,” she wrote.
“This caused my body to be severely anemia, and I felt it,” she said famous“So, I will start chemotherapy tomorrow. It seems to be a very negative thing. Until I get rid of that feeling of bad luck, and then think, wow, I am grateful that I have a very tolerable disease.”
The singer further pointed out how grateful she feels because “There is a treatment that can actually fight against things that cause harm to my body. Thank you for gathering around me to pray and send flowers and let me rely on their friends and family during this super period. A strange chapter in my life.”
She finally urged fans not to give her any unsolicited advice or medical advice. “I have completed my research and have the amazing Dr. Vanderbilt. I have weighed every option…” Monroe added.
