Biden said “the most patriotic thing you can do” is to vaccinate in the Independence Day speech

president Joe Biden It warned Americans that Covid-19 has not been “conquered”, and called vaccination at the Independence Day event held on the South Lawn of the White House as “the most patriotic thing.”

“Covid-19 has not been eliminated,” he said to a group of guests in a televised speech. “We all know that powerful variants have emerged, such as the Delta variant. The best way to defend against these variants is to vaccinate. My fellow Americans, this is the most patriotic thing you can do.”

“So, if you haven’t vaccinated yet, please get vaccinated now. Get vaccinated now, for yourself, your loved ones, your community and your country,” Biden continued.

The White House held a barbecue celebration with approximately 1,000 guests this year to commemorate the independence of the United States and mark the country’s progress in fighting the pandemic. In his speech, Biden walked the tightrope to convey the progress made since last year-“a year of pandemic, isolation, pain, fear, and heartbreaking loss”-while also emphasizing the danger of emerging mutations.

“We never want to go back to where it was a year ago. It no longer controls our lives. It no longer paralyzes our country, and we have the ability to ensure that it will never be paralyzed again,” he said. “Today, we are closer than ever to declaring our independence from the deadly virus. This is not to say that the battle with Covid-19 is over. We still have a lot of work to do.”

In May, Biden set a benchmark for fully vaccinating 160 million adults and ensuring that 70% of adults receive the first dose of vaccine before Independence Day. However, the country failed to meet the target and there are at least a few weeks away from the target. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), approximately 149 million adults have been fully vaccinated and 66.7% have received at least the first dose

Dr. Anthony Fauci with Spencer Cox, Republican Governor of Utah Appeared on cable news earlier today, calling for unity to defeat the new pandemic Washington post/ABC News polls show that Republican voters strongly resist the vaccine.

Biden joined their call and said “When we think we are not Republicans or Democratic Party But as Americans, there is no limit to what we can achieve. “

After the speech, the president and his White House guests watched a long firework show set off around the Lincoln Memorial swimming pool.

When he made the above remarks, the Delta variant was more contagious than other variants and continued to spread rapidly throughout the country. American surgeon Vivek Murthy warned on Friday that the variant “doubles almost every two weeks.” Dr. Rochelle Varensky, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said that mutations are estimated to account for 25% of all active cases.
