On Friday, the House of Representatives introduced a bipartisan bill that may prohibit large app stores from requiring providers to use alternative app stores and payment systems.
The bill was introduced by Congressmen Ken Barker (R-Co.) and Hank Johnson (D-Ga). According to Reuters, they seek to rule in powerful companies such as Apple and Google.

“For a long time, companies like Google and Apple have been binding app developers. They are forced to accept any conditions set by these monopolists to reach their customers.” Buck says.
US consumers spent nearly 33 billion U.S. dollars on app stores last year and downloaded 13.4 billion apps. Apple’s stakes are high because its app store has a service business of 53.8 billion U.S. dollars.

The House Judiciary Committee passed six antitrust measures in June, most of which targeted Apple, Google, Amazon and Facebook.
