Athletes may feel that they have everything after a triumphant performance. This is not the case for Caitlin Jenner. Although she was a famous Olympic athlete in the 1970s, she felt that she was “hiding the world.”
“I’ve been in hiding all my life. I don’t want people to know me, and I don’t want people to know who I am,” she said in the latest trailer for Netflix’s five-part documentary series “Unknown”.
This “walking with Kardashian” star won the decathlon gold medal at the 1976 Summer Olympics after a six-year career and was hailed as an Olympic hero. But this brought her only temporary happiness. Deep down, she longed to let the world know her true identity.
“I am an Olympic champion, the greatest athlete in the world,” she said. “But I’m still the same, with the same old problems.”
Jenner, who was born as a male, Coming out as a transgender in April 2015. In July of the same year, she formally gave up her real name “Bruce” and introduced herself to the public again as “Caitlin”.
Jenner’s transformation is just one of the highlights of “Unknown”, which digs deep into some unforgettable stories in the sports world. Premiere on August 10, documentary series There will be five movies, Each has a running time of 80 minutes.
The first episode of “Untold” is titled “Malice at the Palace” and will discuss the notorious incident between players and fans in an NBA game in Michigan in 2004.
Mehta Sandyford-Artest said in the trailer for the episode: “Some people can control their emotions. I don’t. I try to find any way to escape.”
“Dealing with the Devil” will be broadcast on August 17. This episode will tell the story of Christy Martin’s rise in boxing and her personal struggle as a survivor of abuse.
Jenner’s story will be released on August 24, followed by “Crime and Punishment” on August 31, which tells the story of the relationship between a hockey team and a mob. The last episode “Breaking Point” will be broadcast on September 7, focusing on tennis player Mardy Fish and his mental health issues.
