The China Pavilion showcased its latest homegrown but export-oriented missile systems – covering land, air and navy – at the 2022 Thailand Defence and Security Exhibition, some of which were on display for the first time at the event.
The CM-501GA precision guided missile system, developed by China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation (CASIC), adopts a dual mid-course guidance system consisting of an inertial navigation system (INS) and a satellite data link. The missile can then activate its television and infrared (IR) guidance during the final stages of its flight to improve target identification.
AMR understands that the CM-501GA missile is 2 m long and weighs 100 kg, including a 20 kg penetration and high-explosive (HE) warhead. The company claims that the missile can strike fixed and mobile land targets, as well as naval platforms with a range of up to 40 kilometers.
“The system includes missiles, containerized vertical launch systems, command and control vehicles and technical support systems,” a representative stressed to AMR. “It has integrated information operations, unattended autonomous operations, dynamic deployment, rapid response and multi-platform capabilities.”
The HQ-17AE field air defense system is a self-propelled short-range surface-to-air missile (SAM) system also developed by Aerospace Science and Industry. Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV).
According to company specifications, a typical HQ-17AE fire unit consists of a command vehicle and four tanks, each of which can carry up to 16 missiles. Each vehicle is also capable of directing four missiles at four separate targets simultaneously.
The HQ-17AE is said to have a maximum effective range and altitude of 15 kilometers and 8 kilometers, respectively, against conventional aircraft. However, the company also claims that the system can be used for stealth aircraft at close range and at altitudes of 9km and 6km.
Meanwhile, the FK-3 is an all-weather, medium-range SAM system designed to engage fixed-wing aircraft at ranges and altitudes of up to 100 kilometers and 27 kilometers, respectively. Rotor and cruise missile threats can also be addressed, albeit at shorter ranges.
An FK-3 fire unit can include a radar vehicle and command and control vehicle and six launch vehicles.The launch vehicle usually carries a quad launcher that can perform an inclined hot launch or a vertical cold launch
Finally, the YJ-12E (CM-302) is a supersonic anti-ship missile (ASM) as an affordable but accurate weapon capable of carrying a 250 kg semi-armor-piercing blaster warhead with a maximum range of 290 km, which is highly effective against surface ships Very high hit rate.
China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation stated that the missile can be launched from sea, land and air platforms and can be modified for land attack missions. Mobility improves survivability.
