Ingredients and Substitutions

This section explains how to choose the best citrus salad ingredients, what each ingredient does in the recipe, and substitution options. For measurements see Recipe card below.

Citrus Salad:

  • spinach – My favorite greens to use in this salad are oranges, but you could use arugula, kale, or spring combination to obtain similar results.
  • Tangerine – Oranges, clementines, or even fresh orange slices are all great options. If you want a fruitier salad, consider adding pineapple, strawberry, kiwi or mango chunks.
  • goat cheese – Adds creamy texture and rich flavor that contrasts nicely with the fruit. If you like a different kind of cheese, use feta or blue cheese.
  • Walnut – Adds earthy flavor and a satisfying crunch. Almonds, pecans, or toasted pine nuts can also create a nutty flavor. Use sunflower seeds or chili peppers for a nut-free option.
  • Dried cranberries – I do it by myself Sugar-free dried cranberriesbut store bought Can save time.
