The Rocky Mountain team finally issued a statement after the game, condemning the incident and admitting that the perpetrator has not yet been determined.
“The Colorado Rockies are disgusted by a fan’s racial slander against the Marlins’ Lewis Brinson in the ninth game of today’s game,” the team said.
“Although no object was identified before the end of the game, the Rocky Mountains are still investigating the incident.
“The Rocky Mountain team has zero tolerance for any form of racism or discrimination. Any fan who uses any derogatory language will be expelled and banned from entering Coors Field.”
Major League Baseball Major League Baseball Players Association executive director Tonick Lak said in a statement on Sunday night that the team must “continue to work together to ensure that racism is not tolerated on or off the court”.
