Columbia Climate Institute Named 2023 New York Climate Week University Partner
The Climate Group has selected Columbia Climate School as a university partner for this year’s New York Climate Week. Held September 17-24, New York Climate Week brings together key climate leaders to accelerate climate action and is the largest annual global climate event of its kind.
“At a time of heightened urgency to address climate change, by partnering with Climate Week New York, the Columbia Climate Institute is helping to build momentum for global climate action,” said Climate Institute Interim President Jeffrey Saman. “Collaboration and collective action are at the heart of our school’s purpose. We are proud to partner with Climate Week NYC and host a series of events throughout the week on our campus.”
Now in its 15th year, New York Climate Week Bringing together business, government, civil society and a wider global audience to showcase leading climate solutions and discuss how more can be done fast. Organized by The Climate Group in partnership with the United Nations General Assembly and New York City, the event featured more than 400 events across the city aimed at moving the world’s climate plan into action.
Several live events at NYC Climate Week 2023 will feature experts from the Columbia Climate School and be hosted at the Columbia University campuses in Morningside Heights and Manhattanville.Information on speakers, delegates and the event program can be found at Columbia Climate School New York Climate Week website.

Established in 2020The Colombian Climate School represents Colombia’s historic commitment to address the climate crisis. It is the first new school established in Colombia in 25 years and is a center for research, learning and action. As the window to avoid the potentially catastrophic effects of climate change closes, Climate Schools draws on Colombia’s strengths to solve problems, educate future climate leaders, and generate the knowledge needed to design and inspire solutions.
This year’s New York Climate Week is expected to be even bigger than 2022’s, making it the most influential, ambitious and far-reaching yet. Organizers plan to use the week to call for meaningful contributions to halve carbon emissions by 2030 and achieve net zero emissions by 2050.
This year, Climate Week New York will host live events across ten event themes; built environment, energy, environmental justice, transportation, finance, sustainable living, nature, policy, industry and food.
