Ingredients and Substitutions

- drumstick – I used chicken drumsticks but you can also use chicken leg quarter. In case you were wondering, you can also use different chicken parts, such as thighs or breasts.
- barbecue sauce – Use your favorite!Mine is homemade Sugar-free BBQ Sauce.
- seasoning – only you need Salt and Pepper Season these Crock Pot Chicken Thighs with sea salt and black pepper, but I like to add garlic powder and (this is optional).
Variation: Use more seasoning instead of barbecue sauce.
You can omit the barbecue sauce and use other spices and seasonings, such as paprika, paprika, or onion powder.Or just use 2-3 tablespoons poultry seasoning, italian seasoningor lemon pepper seasoning for different flavor profiles. You’ll still need salt and pepper, unless the seasoning you’re using already contains salt.

How to Make Chicken Thighs in a Pan

- season. Pat chicken legs dry with paper towels. Season with garlic powder (if using), salt, and pepper.
- gather. Spray your clay pot (this is my favourite) with cooking spray, then add chicken. Pour barbecue sauce evenly over chicken.


- Simmer. Cover and cook chicken thighs in the slow cooker until their internal temperature reaches at least 170 degrees F (a higher temperature is recommended for dark meats) and are tender.
- Add more sauce. Remove chicken from slow cooker and place in a single layer on baking sheet Baking pan. Brush chicken thighs with more barbecue sauce. (The easiest way is to pour the sauce into a small bowl first so you can dip the brush into it.)


- Bake (optional). If you wish, place the chicken legs under the broiler rack in the oven for a few minutes. But this is not necessary.


Storage instructions
- Shop: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.
- Reheat: You can reheat Crock Pot Chicken Thighs in a slow cooker on the warm setting, in a 350-degree Fahrenheit oven, or in the microwave.
- freeze: Once cooled, place the chicken legs in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with baking paper and freeze until solid. (This will prevent them from sticking together when freezing.) Then, transfer to an airtight container or zip-top freezer bag and store in the refrigerator for up to 3 months.

Crock Pot Chicken Thighs (2 Ingredients!)
These Grilled Skillet Chicken Thighs are an easy way to make chicken thighs in the slow cooker! They were juicy, flavorful, and fall-off-the-bone tender.

Pat chicken legs dry with paper towels.

Season chicken on all sides with garlic powder (if using), salt, and pepper.

Spray the bottom of a 6-quart slow cooker Spray with cooking spray and add chicken.

Pour 1 cup BBQ sauce evenly over chicken.

Cover the lid and put the chicken legs into the pot and cook 5-6 hours Low (recommended) or 3-4 hours At high.

Near the end of the cooking time, position the oven rack 6-8 inches from the broiler. Preheat oven to grill setting. (If your oven has multiple bake settings, set it to “High” or 500 degrees F (260 degrees C).)

Remove chicken from slow cooker and place in a single layer on baking sheet Baking pan. Brush chicken thighs with remaining 1/2 cup barbecue sauce.

Optional step: Grill the chicken legs until cooked through 3-5 minutesor until edges are crispy and browned.
