Cung Le has already withdrawn from mixed martial arts (MMA) competitions, but has made headlines due to a long-term antitrust lawsuit against the UFC.
The 49-year-old has experienced many different promotions during his combat sports journey.
However, when he appeared on MMA, Le had a very interesting view of the state of MMA. Sports for All PH Podcast The weekend was hosted by Vince Juico and Brian Yalung.
Le was asked if the UFC is still a gathering place for top talent in the sport.
Although he admits that entering the UFC is a feat in itself, Le believes that it may only be a matter of time before other organizations are on an equal footing with the Las Vegas-based team.
“UFC is definitely the NFL. You entered the NFL or the NBA or anywhere else. But as you can see, the U.S. basketball team is the most dominant basketball team in the history of the Olympics. It has all the professional players who play in the NBA. So I don’t believe that the UFC has all the best athletes,” Le said.
The Vietnamese-American legend also explained how Strikeforce’s big name made the transition to UFC and achieved success.
“Look at Strikeforce. Before Strikeforce was acquired, we had Cain Velasquez, Daniel Cormier, Ronda, and Miesha Tate. You can name many names that were very successful in Strikeforce. When they went to UFC, they became champions. Some people like Daniel Cormier has also become a double champion,” Le explained.

Overall, Le pointed out that other promotions are talented. But as for who has the best and who is the best, he thinks it all boils down to Muhammad Ali Act.
For him, this will not only bring fairness, but will ultimately determine who is the real top fighter in the sport.
“I believe there are talents everywhere. I believe there are many talents in ONE FC. We don’t know that until one day, Muhammad Ali’s actions really benefit the fighters, they can compete with each other and unify their belts. This will change the rules of the game. And then. You will know who the real top fighters are. Before that, the UFC locked their paws and suppressed the entire movement,” he said.
